Dont blame the monk... a good player will evade high damage and run away, a good warrior will retreat and protect monks and casters, a good nuker will kill foes before them can make high damage to someone, a good ranger never dies, a good necro can heal by self, a good mesmer dont chase dangerous positions in batle camp... i hate how people chase dangerous positions in batle camp, the warrirors run like forest gump chasing fleeing monsters, some casters love to see im close the batle like if them use a sword not a staff or wand... monks let the stupids die... focus heal in good players because a dead stupid is better. less agroo ... less targets to heal...

Energizing Wind + Balthazar's Aura? Yeah, I'd kick you from my team too. *shudder* Two cardinal sins: 1. Messing with my energy management by using your spirit. 2. Overindulging in, or basing your build upon, a skill that makes the enemy AI scatter and cause the tank to lose aggro.

Monks do get a lot of s*** but i don't take any of it, any abuse of warroirs who like's tanking about 40 foe's doesn't get healed by me. I have quit teams becasue of players like that.

I once played with a team in FoW after we cleared the left we went to the right, the warroir died and just responed "Very sorry about that, all my fault went to far from the team and the monks couldn't heal from that distance. Thx for trying to get to save me." which was true he ran a bit to far away and i tryed to save him but failed. We went on to clear all of FoW with only one of two deaths more.

You have good players and bad players, i would rather play with the bad players who know when something was there fault than good players who just give you abuse, as the bad team will noramly do better anyways.

This post feels so at home. 1st time monk and just ascended but recent experience with a party. The good news is, it was just one member, not the whole team.

Were doing Dunes, the one where you beat one legion, two legions, then three legions.

Here some highlights:

Charge past party to kill enemy priest way ahead of the party past one patrol (and wonders why I don't heal) then add I didn't heal and asks why.

I spam 1 engery of 40 (he charages mob)

Rez Me (while I can barely keep the pt breathing with current aggro / damage).

Asks if I am I a smite monk (this I found so funny - was 100% smite free)

He did not seem to receptive to the fact that I mention to him I didn't have enough engery, he was too far away, didn't like the fact the group started yelling at him for going after the enemy priest and not taking care of the patrol in front of the area

I stay till the bitter end with any group till the bitter end or a real I need to get off the pc now situation happens. But some people do make me bitter towards them.

This is happing more and more the latter the game becomes.

When I am on with my monk as the mission starts I always state that I will do the best I can, but I will leave them once the first whit of bs comes my way when I am doing all I can to keep people and more importantly myself alive. Most dont seem to realize that when the monk dies, they loose their healing support. Seem to think Monks are bulletproof or something so before it starts I make it clear that it is easier for me to find 3, 5, or 7 more people then it is for them to find one. That usually makes them fairly respectful

I remember back in the day when people used to chain pull mobs at the steps of ole Kunark Castle (sigh) I was a monk then too and I hated chain pulling and they'd get mad if I said something like SLOW DOWN, but, you know what, back then an even now monks still have POWER, don't piss a monk off or we'll LEAVE! Yes, I certainly stopped the chain pulling, since I was the only monk around at 2am in the morning (my usual time to play since I worked split shift), they begged me to come back said they would stop...I said give me plat...lol they did. So, I joined back up and said, you can chain pull as long as I have a good bank of energy, BUT, when "I" say stop you better stop or I'm gone and gone for good this time...don'ttttt mess with me!! And they didn't. So, USE your POWERS monks, make people play the way YOU want them to play or just leave.

Ah pressure. Works great in most places, but if your in a spot where its hard to get a group, its a balance between your retarded group or maybe no group. :P

Seriously, what is wrong with people?

I just quit a group in THK. A group I decided to help out of the blue. A group I did not need to help since I have already cleared everything in the game with my monk.

But a group that still insisted on acting like morons. The warrior kept spammig "HEAL!" when everyone is just fine, and the other monk is bugging me asking me about my goddamn build while in the middle of the mission(instead of, you know, asking before the mission, like normal people do), and getting pissy at me because I'm not answering.

So I just said "Don't piss off the monks kiddies" and just quit.

Normally I don't do that, but it takes a special kind of retarded group to get me to do it.

It felt good though.

crazy ranting people.....

There are an equal number of bad players in any given class. I find when I use my monk or any other char that if you get into a bad group they tend to separate fast and continuously aggro and everyone dies. These players also tend to be the ones who are abusive. YOU WILL NOT WIN IN THESE GROUPS LEAVE THEM! Also if your randomly forming groups you will probably get a few bad players and 1 of them could be the monk. This being said you will also probably get a few good players so if your a monk try and take notice and point out why you let some SOB die on purpose when they do something stupid and why your constantly keeping a few ppl alive (so you can res the stupid ones later).

I can go both ways on this one. I'm workin on a monk after completing the game with N/E, R/E, W/Mo, E/Mo, and now my Mo/Me. agreed, alot of monks are bad, but some people dont help the situation.
Some noticable things that can be seen by observing the arrogant-
Of course monks need to heal, but what do you think they are thinking when a warrior runs in and aggros 3 groups and starts to take heavy damage, and throws on FRENZY. YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Then when you die becuase all attacks do double damage and you start yelling at the monk, you gain nothing. However sometimes monks can be stupid, the people typing in all caps the whole mission, who die constantly, just need to shut up.
Another example- Elementalists, Mesmers, all the classes with low armor- DON'T RUN INTO THE FIGHT. You die easily, and are the cause of various problems to monks.
Long of the short- if you play stupidly, don't expect monks to save you every time. Treat them with respect. If that's too much for you, hench it and shut up.

1) If I have a good monk in the team he will get comments on his healing, nice ones.

2) If the monk is doing a bad job he will get comments for that too.

I've been a monk myself, having energy management helpes alot. But I really hate those monks who spam their low energy after only 10 seconds of combat. Tend to ask them to call everyting they do in the next battle and its usually in the lines of 'I am using heal party', 'I am using Heal breeze on the barely wounded warrior', I am using heal party', 'I am using Heal Other on some wounded guy', 'I am using heal party', then energy spam.

Good monks get good comments, bad monks beware.

When i'm forming a group I kick people who are unresponsive to questions about their build, be it warrior, monk, ele, necro, ranger or mesmer. This is a good way of getting a feel of the player. Getting them to state their skillbar is my favorite way, I usually state mine when I join a group and get asked what build i am.

HOWEVER among monks you will find a rare breed of players, those who turn into the meanest people you've met. Greedy monks in FoW or UW..'I haven't found a shard yet, gimme one that is your second or I stop healing', monks who know everything and the whole party must play as they tell or they leave.

As i've said, I played a monk, I know the way you can be blamed for all kinds of stuff that was someone elses fault. But for me those players have made me highly critical of monks. Don't want to end up after 30 mins of play to have the monk leave. So for me its guildies or henchies all the way. On any mission I state 'we are taking henchie monks, ok?' and kick any player who is not ok with that. Well actually I tend to party the henchies first and then start forming the team. Why? In all the normal missions, all good players know that a henchie monk (or two) gives a higher chance for a good monk then getting a random player monk (even the RoF mission). In fact the only time I didn't make those missions first try was with player monks.

Monks need a break? Mesmers need a break! (ow those difficult mursaat died alwafully fast, good nuking ele's!.....they never notice the backfire...)

I recently gave a monk more than a break, I gave him an IDS.

Was going to see the seer in Mineral Springs to infuse my warrior's new armour. Monk came along for the trip. Just a little beyond Granite, we didn't do too well. I noticed that my health was constantly dropping. After we all died and got ressed, we went back to Granite to get rid of DP. Chatted with the monk, just to double check what he was doing. He doesn't normally play the role of a healing monk, but decided to give it a go. I'm not an expert at monking, still new to it, so I couldn't teach much but we chatted about attribute point assignments and discuss skills. I left him to make whatever change he felt was necessary and we went out again. This time we did alot better. After killing the imps in the cave, I got an IDS which I was going to replace my FDS with. The monk congratulated me on my drop. To which I thanked him for keeping me alive throughout the journey and give him the IDS.

I'm tired of these "Monks are uber, bow to us" threads. Stop crying, you don't make a monk to be worshipped by all the people you meet. I have a lvl 20 monk, and I dont know why you guys are crying. You may have problems, but so does everyone else. GET over it, its life. I didnt make a monk to be worshipped and bowed down to by all the people i keep alive. I made up to help out. If you made a monk to be worshipped and given free items because you are an uber healer, you picked the wrong game.

imho the game is too reliant on monks. therefor at least the monk henchies could use some improving. especially the part where they find a need to battle on the front line instead of healing from behind.

Hey, I play Monk quite a bit - I like to think I do my job as part of a team. Yes it is easier to get into groups but you do get some abuse. I do it though becuase I enjoy it. The only thing that does irritate me is when towards the end of a battle I am pinging "My energy is 5 of 47" and some warrior pings "My energy is 20 of 20" and then runs off into another battle. Is it really such a shock when I can not heal them and they die - come on.......

I think that GW is a team game.

I can understand when 2 Warriors are fighting in the fray, both expecting a heal, and the surprise and sadness they feel when the monk is there for 1 of them, and not the other.

I can also understand when the monk that is constantly getting Backfired and Blackouted, and he/she have to decide which teammate lives and dies.

I think that, one of the reasons people are hard on monks, is because Mesmers are the counter. And the nasty stuff Mesmers do is not visable. Have a monk die when u think there is nothing wrong, and u will blame the monks Skill. Have a Nuker smash the monks with all of the pretty red colors, and u can see why some people died.

Well, I've been a monk since day 1 of Guild Wars (even the first beta events and world previews), I've played almost 1000 hours with my monk (first caracter I created, only one I completed) only in PvE. I'm pretty I've completed every single missions at least 2 or 3 times to help out guildies and friends. I've seen a lot of bad attitude players. It doesnt only concern monks. Every class can be just as much of a jackass. The difference between a monk not doing his job and a minion necro not doing is job is that one affects the life of others, while the necros could do the worst job ever as a MM but no-one from the group would notice it. Though a monk not doing his job good will see many fellow fall.

We only get bitched by other players because they die. They seem to think that we can heal everyone from the party all the time, even if they all rush a different mob group. Anyways, I personnaly dont bother anymore with whinners if they die because they acted like superhuman heroes and wanted to defeat 25 avicaras on their own. I dont say Monks never do mistakes, I just say that if you die because you acted like a retarded dryer, its your problem, dont go hunting bigger groups than you can count without facing the consequences.

My 2 cents
